Calling All Minnow Contestants! Everyone – both young and old – loves to cheer on the Paullin minnows! Our minnow races, under the expert training of racing coaches Bill and Joyce Paullin, were so much fun last year, they’ve returned for the summer’s Hanover Harvest Festival, Saturday, August 2 nd. Well, maybe not the same minnows… but new ones. From noon to five p.m. at the volleyball sandpit near the Kids’ Activity Area of Settler’s Park, contestants can pick a “lucky” minnow and cheer it across the finish line… a true spectator sport for those of all abilities. For just 50 cents, those 15 and under can “pledge” a minnow (one minnow per entrant per race) to swim the tubular course, while those 16 and over can claim the same excitement for a buck. The “pledgee” of the first minnow that crosses the finish line in each race can choose either a free beverage or snack PLUS is eligible for a Cabela’s gift card drawing (worth $100). The winner of the drawing will be announced on the main stage in Settler’s Park that evening. You do not need to be present to win. So kids, start saving up your quarters and dimes during the summer so you’ll have plenty of chances to see if your minnow comes out on top … as a winner and hopefully not belly up. The mission of the Hanover Harvest Festival is to promote a sense of unity by bridging the best of the past with a vision for the future. The ingenious race directors for this unique event are Joyce and Bill Paullin. For more information, contact them at 498-8454. |
